We finally settled on a beautiful cherry wood bedroom set

Does Bigger Mean Better? I still have the same bedroom set that was purchased almost 20 years ago when we moved to a new home.

My husband and I looked at many bedroom sets and we finally settled on a beautiful cherry wood bedroom set.

It consisted of a queen sized bed with a finely detailed head board, a highboy and a six foot long, ten drawer bureau with a huge mirror to compliment it.

Now, my husband had always loved oversize furniture and this certainly was the case. Arrangements were made for the furniture movers to come several days later and I didn’t envy their job because it was going up on the second floor.

The stairs leading up there were pretty steep and the hallway was quite narrow, so when you got to the top it was going to be quite a chore to turn the bureau and get it into the bedroom, but they did it easier than I thought was going to be possible.

However, we got hit with a problem I never thought of. They went to bring the box spring up the stairs and it just wasn’t going to go. You see, at the base of the stairs the ceiling came down. It wasn’t too much taller than I was. Read more »

We have several pieces of outdoor furniture made custom

We have several pieces of outdoor furniture. We had most of it made custom out of wood.

Our nice picnic table is ten feet long and four and half feet wide. Needless to say, it has plenty of room.

We have seated up to twelve people at it at one time. When we had it custom made, we went ahead and had it stained also.

My outdoor furniture is a Hodge podge

My outdoor furniture is a Hodge podge of whatever I have scrounged up at flea markets or garage sales or year end sales at home stores.

I like the mismatched look an it’s a bargain.

I look for durable pieces like wrought iron and natural wood for benches, tables and chairs.

I don’t like anything fussy like wicker or fabric cushions because I live in the Deep South where things mildew easily
